2016 Downtown NOLA Arts-Based Business Pitch
Submit your application today to compete for over $25,000 in resources during the 2016 New Orleans Entrepreneur Week! As in past years, the 4th Annual Downtown NOLA Arts-Based Business Pitch seeks to find and advocate local entrepreneurs with a modular arts-based product or project within the digital media, film, creative, technological or architectural fields that directly benefits the Downtown Development District. The pitch should serve to improve experiences in the everyday life of folks living and working in the Downtown area. Holiday Movies on the Mississippi
Catch a festive outdoor flick in the Spanish Plaza at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk! Bring family and friends to enjoy fantastic free flicks airing each Friday at 6:30 p.m. in December (except Christmas Day). The Polar Express, starring Tom Hanks, airs Dec. 4; Home Alone, featuring Macaulay Culkin, will screen Dec. 11; and Elf, with Will Ferrell, will play Dec. 18.

Downtown NOLA Saturday Shopping Spree
The Downtown Development District, in cooperation with The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, The Shops at Canal Place and Harrah’s New Orleans Hotel and Casino, present the Downtown NOLA Saturday Shopping Spree Dec. 5. Enjoy a fun-filled day with the whole family in the midst of a holiday-festooned Downtown with live local music, shopping discounts, restaurant specials and more! Don’t miss the Kinfolk Brass Band at 11:30 a.m. on Girod and Baronne streets, the Krewe of Jingle parade down Canal Street at 1 p.m. and Bag of Donuts in front of Harrah’s at 2:30 p.m.

Krewe of Jingle Parade
The holiday season in New Orleans simply wouldn’t be as festive without a parade, so the Downtown Development District and The Roosevelt New Orleans have joined forces to present the Krewe of Jingle parade — replete with mirthful floats, local marching bands, jubilant Christmas characters and more! Beginning in Lee Circle Dec. 5 at 1 p.m., the Krewe of Jingle will roll down St. Charles Avenue all the way to Canal Street and then back down Baronne Street to finish up on Howard Avenue. Throw me somethin’ merry mister!

Reindeer Run & Romp
There must be some way to get into shape during the feasting season … wait … there’s always the Reindeer Run and Romp, presented by Entergy New Orleans and the Downtown Development District! On Dec. 12, children of all ages will be lining up for a race down Canal Street that will begin at the ring of Santa’s jingling bells. All runners big and small will receive a race T-shirt, a bag of holiday treats and a pair of antlers to wear while racing. If you have any breath left, there will also be a wild romp after the run in The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk’s Spanish Plaza — where attendees are free to enjoy healthy activities, including yoga for kids, games, music, crafts and more. Don’t forget to get a picture with Santa to mark this special occasion!
