Hello, out there, all you little buttercups! It is the brave New Year, and we are ready for the show to go on.

I would like to remind you to check out the Grammy Awards on CBS on February 11. Louisiana—and New Orleans in particular—has the distinction of having not one but five Grammy nominees: Tab Benoit, Terrence Blanchard, Dr. John, Irma Thomas and Allen Toussaint. Congratulations to you all!

Kudos to the new Louis Vuitton Boutique at Saks Fifth Avenue, and its decision to have a percentage of profits go the Preservation Resource Center. Since 1974, the PRC has been restoring and rebuilding our beautiful historical New Orleans architecture and neighborhoods. In the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, its focus has been on the restoration of the lives and homes devastated by those disasters. Thank you PRC.

Restaurant August was the recent venue for a gala birthday bash hosted by Dr. Hal Stokes for his lovely bride and volunteer activist Leslie Stokes. All of you with December birthdays will appreciate the gesture, as sometimes the holidays seem to take precedence over such celebrations. Leslie, who was under the impression that she was attending a Southern Repertory Theatre fund-raiser (replete with a bogus invitation), was totally surprised when the 100-plus partygoers gathered ’round to wish her happy birthday.

stokes.jpgDr. Stokes, who recently finished his tenure as chief of staff of East Jefferson General Hospital, left no stone unturned, so to speak. And that was made obvious by the gorgeous new bijoux resting on Leslie’s finger and admired by all!

vesh.jpgGlenn Vesh and Johnny Lopez of Perfect Presentations took the accolades for the flourishes of huge globes of hydrangeas gracing the tables, which were bedecked in lavender linens. Chef John Besh and his culinary team presented the four-course repast of roasted heirloom beet salad with crabmeat; crispy seared Louisiana blackfish with cauliflower, lobster and caviar; pan-roasted pheasant breast over fennel sauerkraut, stuffed lady apples and rye bread gnocchi followed by a chocolate to-die-for cake in the form of a giant jewel box of precious gems. Wow!

Another birthday girl, Sandra Trout Wilson, was spotted having her natal day luncheon with a dozen gal pals at Café Adelaide. Happy birthday, sweet girl! And on another note, Mike Theis was spotted at Riche in Harrah’s Hotel having his gal pals for a celebration of his own.

So good to see everyone out and about and having a good time these days. Let me know what you are doing!
