Perspiration, Pretties & Parties
Stay cool, and look great, with these top boutique picks.
Oh, August … is there anything to get me through this month of sun, sweat and stickiness? Honestly, it is my least favorite fashion month of the year. It is so painfully hot and humid that I turn into the Wicked Witch of the West and literally walk around screaming “I’m, melting, I’m melting.” I also do not deem myself a completely sane individual. I admit I am a little wacky at times, and, for some reason, this heat just seems to bring the cuckoo to a whole other level. I am yearning for any drop in temperature and dying to put on any of the fall clothes that are arriving in all of our phenomenal boutiques — yet even the sight of a sweater in August gives me the vapors. Luckily, Corrie and I have found some notable and new fashion events and boutiques to help us survive and slightly push through this oh-so hot month in New Orleans.
Whitney White Linen Night
Aug. 6
The Warehouse District
While this always seems to be the hottest night of the year, and, at some point in the evening, a monsoon will pass, the masses still pack the streets. Although the event takes place in the epicenter of the arts district, the evening has become one of the biggest see-and-be-seen events. It is people-watching at its finest. Julia Street turns into a hot catwalk of hits and misses of white linen ensembles. We strongly recommend reserving a table in the air-conditioning and playing a Project Runway drinking game.
